Thursday 1st July, We hopped onto a ferry and set
of for 3 days of tropical adventuring on Fraser Island - we swapped the
utopia that was our beloved camper van for the 5-Star luxury of the
Eurong Beach Resort (http://www.eurong.com/)
Off we go
... The Ferry over to Fraser ...
Indiana takes it all in her
stride ...
This is "75 Mile
Beach" and it serves as Fraser Islands
Main Road ... Runway ... and Beach!
Look
closely at this picture ... the sand is covered by about 15 inches of
crystal clear sand filtered wasted ...
Big
Tree!!!!!
Nothing compared to the
luxury of our Campervan ... but we managed to make do!
We set off on out first
sightseeing trip ... to Lake Wabby ... this desert like terrain was used
for the filming of the BBC's walking with Dinosaurs!
Finally
... we get to lake Wabby! Time for a Dip!
Didn't get
any snaps of us swimming but trust me when I tell you there were big
black scaley things swimming past my legs every five minutes ...
and it wasn't Rach! :)
A Postcard Pose if ever I
saw one!
We reach the end of our
first day ...
2nd Day
... and we're going for a plane ride to get a birds eye view of the
island!
A snap
from the plan of one of the most fantastic lakes on Fraser Island ... in
fact in the world - Lake McKenzie
This is Lake Wabby (the one
with the big black scaley things!)
A close encounter of the
Dingo kind ... dingo's live wild all over Fraser!
Aye Aye
matey ... this is the wreck of the Maheno, a luxury liner which was due
to be scrapped in Japan. Whilst towed to Japan a cyclone cut her adrift,
she ran aground in 1935 ...
